Many people are waiting impatiently and in anticipation for the first snow fall!
Once the snow has fallen, there is no holding back – the Val Pusteria and the Plan de Corones holiday region are transformed into a winter wonderland covered in deep snow.
There are plenty of highlights: Enjoy the view over the deep snow-covered valley basin, grab your bob-sleigh and slide board and whiz down the hotel’s own meadow slope, show off your ice skating skills in Perca and Brunico and much more …
Modern lifts, perfectly groomed slopes, a wide range of routes, direct connection to bus and train: No wonder that Brunico’s local mountain, the Plan de Corones, is one of the most popular skiing areas in the Alpine region. Our shuttle bus will take you from the Hotel Amaten directly to the lifts in Perca (for a small surcharge). As our guests, you can rent skis and equipment at a discount at the valley station of the Ried-Bahn in Perca. If you leave your car at the lift car park, you will receive a free parking card from us.
The Marxeggeralm in Rio Bianco is located at 1,756 m, in the middle of the Valle Aurina mountains.
The hut is run by Hanne’s sister Kathrin and her husband from December to April. The Tristenbach toboggan run is right next to the hut and is also lit at night (toboggan rental at the hut). It is a popular stop for ski tourers, hikers and tobogganers. Here you can enjoy homemade and good, down-to-earth food from the Valle di Tures and Aurina region. Especially delicious: the typical & warming “Melchamuis”, the dumplings, the Erdäpfelblattlan and much more. Of course, there are also other excursion destinations with toboggan runs in the area, such as the Lercheralm in Vila di Sopra or the Moarhofalm in Chienes. Fancy some insider tips? You can get them from us on site!
What could be more beautiful than trudging or gliding through untouched, fresh snow?
Particularly recommended: Ski tour to the Zinsnock (2,459 m), to the Henne (Gornerberg; 1,120 m), to the Schönbichl (2,452 m); snowshoe hike to the Oberhütte (2,033 m), to the Eggespitz (2,087 m) in Lappago, to the Kasselerhütte (2,177 m), to the Stegeralm (1,957 m) in Casere and many more.
Fans of quiet skiing away from the slopes can look forward to being in a cross-country ski paradise! We can recommend the following cross-country trails in the Plan de Corones holiday region and the surrounding area: Riscone cross-country trail (5.5 km), Falzes-Issengo cross-country trail (1.9 km), Rio Bianco circular trail (10 km), Riva di Tures circular trail (up to 15 km), Casere sun trail (10 km), Selva dei Molini/Lappago cross-country trail (16 km), Val di Casies cross-country trail (42 km) … Special highlights: Cross-country skiing in the Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco, on the high plateau of the Plätzwiese (Prato Piazza) in Braies and in the biathlon centre in Anterselva.
Hike from Ameto to the mysterious Kehlburg castle ruins, continue hiking to Montassilone or visit the quaint village of Gais. Other worthwhile hiking destinations: the Rio Molino valley and the Vila di Sopra valley.
